The Chrome extension
The extension brings Navigent to LinkedIn. Open a profile, click the Navigent icon, and Chrome's side panel shows you Navigent's assessment of that person against one of your roles. If they fit, you can add them to a campaign from right there. The extension is for Chrome only.
Install and connect
- Install Navigent from the Chrome Web Store.
- Open a LinkedIn profile and click the Navigent icon in the toolbar. The side panel opens.
- Click Sign in with Navigent. Settings > Chrome extension opens in a new tab.
- Click Connect the Chrome extension. The extension gets its token straight away; there's nothing to copy.
If the page can't reach the extension, for instance because you're in a different Chrome profile, it shows the token once instead. Copy it and paste it into the side panel.
Assess a profile
- Open a profile on LinkedIn, a page under linkedin.com/in/.
- Click the Navigent icon, or press Alt+Shift+N.
- Check the role at the top of the panel. It's the one you chose last, or your most recent active role. Pick another from the list, where your roles are grouped by workspace.
- Read the assessment: the band, the summary, every requirement with its evidence, strengths and concerns.
Because the profile shows education, languages and skills, requirements that were to clarify are now answered, Met or Missing, and marked as coming from the profile. Below the assessment you see where the candidate stands in the role: not in it yet, on the longlist, recommended, shortlisted, rejected, or in a campaign at a given step.
Choose another role and the same profile is assessed again. An assessment never uses a search or an e-mail address.
Add the candidate to a campaign
- Click Add to campaign. You see the role's campaigns that are drafts, running or paused, each with its sender and queue.
- Choose one. The candidate goes on the shortlist and into the campaign's queue, and the panel tells you their place, for example "Mette is number 4 in the queue".
To shortlist without a campaign, choose Shortlist only. If the role has no campaign yet, the panel offers Add to shortlist and a link to create one in Navigent. Campaigns are never created in the extension.
Adding is your yes. Contact happens later, on the campaign's schedule, from the campaign's sender account.
What the extension reads
Only the profile you have open, and only when you click: name, headline, location, current title and company, experience, education, skills, languages, certifications, the About text, and the profile's address.
It never reads contact details, e-mail addresses, phone numbers, connections, recommendations, activity, posts, messages, anything behind another click, or the photo. Nor does it ever read search results, lists, or pages in Recruiter or Sales Navigator. On a page that isn't a profile, it reads nothing.
What the extension never does
It never navigates, scrolls, clicks or sends anything on LinkedIn. When you install it, it doesn't ask for access to linkedin.com; it reads the tab only when you click.
The extension reads only the LinkedIn profile you have open, and only when you click it. It never navigates, scrolls, clicks or sends anything on LinkedIn on your behalf. You are responsible for your own LinkedIn account and for using it in line with LinkedIn's terms.
Good to know
- Someone on your do-not-contact list can be assessed but not added, and the panel says why. Someone who has asked to be removed from Navigent isn't assessed at all; the panel says only that they've asked not to be contacted through Navigent.
- A profile you assess is saved as a candidate in the role's workspace, and the usual deletion rules apply.
- The extension never looks up an e-mail address. If you add the candidate to a campaign, their address is looked up only when they reach an e-mail step.
- The token lasts 180 days. Under Settings > Chrome extension you can see when it was last used and revoke it. Signing out in the panel revokes it too.
