Calibration
Calibration is how you point the ranking in the right direction while the search is still fetching. Navigent shows you three candidates, you say yes or no, and your answers become the examples every candidate is scored against again. The right people end up at the top of the longlist.
When it starts
Calibration starts once the first 100 or so candidates are in. The rest keep loading in the background, so you're not waiting on the whole search.
How to calibrate
- Find the round in the thread: three compact cards. The first is the top-ranked candidate. The other two differ from it in seniority, type of company or function, so you can show Navigent where the line is.
- Click a card. The review card opens with the full assessment.
- Say yes with → or A, or no with ← or R. The card moves on to the next candidate in the round.
- After the round's last candidate the card closes and the thread carries on.
- When the direction looks right, press Looks right.
What your answers do
- Yes puts the candidate on the shortlist, and no rejects them. These are real decisions, so nobody has to be reviewed twice.
- No reason is asked for. Yes or no is enough.
- Every candidate is scored again. After each round the ranking uses your answers as examples, and candidates move. It costs nothing.
When it ends
There are at most three rounds. Calibration ends early when a round gets two or more yeses, or when you press Looks right. You can also press Skip calibration at any point.
When nobody fits
If you say no to all three in a round, Navigent suggests one change, in one line, and the next round uses it.
If you say yes to one profile and no to one that looks very much like it, Navigent may ask a single question to understand the difference. Never more than one per round.
After calibration
Once the recommended candidates are assessed, the thread tells you how many are ready and you begin with Start review. Anyone you decided during calibration is already on the shortlist or under Rejected, and won't come round again. See Review candidates.
Good to know
- If you undo an answer with U, its vote comes out of the ranking too.
- You can still steer afterwards in the chat, for example "prefer experience from listed companies". A new preference re-ranks without using a search.
- There's no number of yeses to reach. A no is an example the ranking uses too.
