Add Navigent to Slack

Updated

With Slack, your team hears about what matters in Navigent where you already talk: when a candidate replies, when a search is ready and when a campaign finishes. Each workspace can post to its own channel.

Add Slack

Owners and admins can add Slack.

  1. Go to Settings > Slack.
  2. Click Add to Slack next to the workspace that should send messages.
  3. Slack opens. Choose the channel for the messages and click Allow.
  4. You come back to Navigent, which shows the channel and the Slack workspace it posts to.

Navigent only asks to post in the one channel you choose. Navigent cannot read anything in your Slack: no channels, messages or members.

What is sent

Three kinds of message, each turned on and off on its own:

  • Replies from candidates: "New reply in the campaign Developers Q4." Auto-replies are not sent.
  • Search ready: "The search for Senior developer is ready: 12 recommended candidates."
  • Campaign finished: "The campaign Developers Q4 has finished: 9 of 40 candidates replied."

Each message has a button that opens the reply, the role or the campaign in Navigent. The messages are written in the language of the person who added Slack.

What is never sent

A message names only the role or the campaign and a number. It never names a candidate, and never shows their photo, title, employer or contact details, what a candidate wrote, a note or a colleague. The rest is in Navigent, after signing in, and only what each person has access to.

So give roles and campaigns names you are comfortable seeing in the channel.

Choose what is sent

Under Settings > Slack, each workspace has a switch for each of the three messages. A change applies at once.

When Slack stops accepting messages

If someone removes Navigent in Slack, the channel is archived, or Slack closes it to the messages, Navigent stops sending. Owners and admins get a notification in Navigent, and Settings > Slack says so next to the workspace. Click Add to Slack again to choose a channel again.

Remove Slack

  1. Go to Settings > Slack.
  2. Click Remove next to the workspace, and confirm.

Navigent deletes the connection and sends no more messages. The Navigent app stays in your Slack until someone removes it there; the link Remove the app in Slack in the confirmation leads there.

Your data in Slack

You choose to send the messages to your own Slack. What is in Slack is processed under your agreement with Slack, not Navigent's. Slack is not one of Navigent's sub-processors. Data and deletion explains what Navigent itself keeps.
